SLII® leadership program – worldwide training courses for executives

Employee satisfaction is closely linked to the behavior of superiors. RONAL GROUP has therefore introduced the SLII® leadership program as one of its strategic objectives in organizational development. It provides managers with guidance and tools to support employees based on the situation. Management teams around the world had received their training by the end of 2022.

In today's working world, situations can change quickly, becoming more complex and dynamic. This is a challenge for managerial staff. To further improve their ability to meet this challenge, RONAL GROUP decided in 2021 to introduce the SLII® leadership program as a strategic organizational development objective. According to The Ken Blanchard Companies®, the guiding principle behind SLII® is that a leader is successful when they are adaptable and know when and how to adjust their leadership style to the situation at hand. This allows them to successfully assess their staff and apply different leadership styles to meet the needs of each team member in each situation and achieve common goals.

“When you have only a hammer as a tool, every problem looks like a nail. The training gave us managers additional, well-prepared tools that can be put to good use.”

The first step was taken by the Executive Board at the headquarters in Switzerland. By the end of 2022, all local management teams worldwide had undergone the SLII® training, with the exception of the US site and the SanSwiss companies. The training sessions were phased by region, and delivered on-site at each location by Patrycja Garus, Group Learning & Development Professional and certified SLII® facilitator. Among other things, participants learned how to assess situations, make diagnoses and apply different leadership styles. According to Patrycja Garus the training sessions were well received by the hundred or so managers who took part. “When you have only a hammer as a tool, every problem looks like a nail,” said participant Matthias Kratz, Group Department Head, Manufacturing IT. “The training gave us managers additional, well-prepared tools that can be put to good use.”

In two interviews Matthias Kratz, Group Department Head, Manufacturing IT and José Luis Perez, Group Area Head, Group Technical Development - recount their experiences with SLII®. The videos are part of an internal aiming to share experiences on the application of the SLII® methodology. They will be published on the RONAL GROUP intranet both during and after the training phase.
